April showers bring may flowers.......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oi... what a past couple of weeks.
So now I'm signed up for my internship, and I just have to finish revising my paper and re-submit it for re-approval, and then my research should move along pretty well. My advisor will be coming for a visit sometime this month... not sure exactly when though.
Still haven't been able to help out with camps since that Monday. I try to go out and see the kids when I can, but I'm usually stuck inside working on projects or research, which is extrememly boring.
My dad got surgery yesterday... it went pretty well I guess. Came out of it with 6 stitches. He, being the stupid person that he is, refused any help though and now he's throbbing and pain and complaining because he can't do any of his work. He also STUPIDLY got the bandages wet, so now he has to wait a whole 'nother day for it to dry out before he can take them off and take a decent shower. Dumb butt won't take it easy for a day.
I was supposed to be out on the inner harbor right now, on a friend's boat with jet skiis and fireworks tonight. Instead, I am sitting here, doing work for college and my fraternity. Oh what a joyful life I live.
On Wednesday, and woman came into work and asked "who wants a baby bird???" Now, usually we tell the people to take the animal to the wildlife rehabilitator's themselves, but I felt really bad for this woman because she was really worried about the bird, but was running late for work :C So we took the birdy, and I called up Mrs. Woods, who is the rehabilitator to tell her about our guest.
Mr. Frank got the call back from her, and asked me if I could drive the little guy down to her, since I know the area where she is pretty well. So I went on the rescue mission! Driving carefully so mr. nestling wouldn't get sick or fly off the seat in his shoebox. I got there and she picked him up, asking "are you a cardinal? no... hmm..." then looked in his mouth, and inside were two purple lines right near the edge of his beak. Turns out he was a baby Cedar Waxwing! Now, you may think "wow. a bird. whoop-de-doo." But that was awesome for me! Waxwings are gorgeous birds, and I've never seen one, so it was an extra special experience. And he'll be just fine :3
She asked me "is this your punishment for accepting the bird?" And I was like "Oh no! Not at all! I actually want to do wildlife rehabilitation when I get older" So we had a long discussion all about it. Turns out I can start doing my studies to become one now. Only problem is...
It doesn't pay. Not one cent. It's all donation.
Way to pick a job Katie D: Just my luck. Once again, my future gets fucked up. All I ever do is freaking volunteer and chairty work.... I need money too darn it!!!
BUT... I was talking to a friend of mine that's a volunteer fire fighter in my county, and it turns out I can actually be one!!!! I'm really excited about this... I've wanted to do something that would better people and our country, which is why I wanted to go into the Marines or join the Police force. But I can be a firefighter, and I'm deeply considering the option. At least it'll pay!!! And depending where you work, you can get a darn good salary.
Well, off to revise my paper, work out, then go to a carnival. Oh joy of joys.
